Symposium on Climate Change - Aquarium of the Pacific

Aquarium of the Pacific president and CEO Jerry Schubel will give a keynote address and moderate a panel of ocean and climate experts from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, when the League of Women Voters hosts its fifth annual Climate Change Symposium at the aquarium’s Ocean Theater.

This year’s symposium theme is “Climate change is here: What are we doing about it?” and will feature Schubel’s address followed by speakers Holly Jean Buck, a research fellow at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability; Lynne Talley, professor of Physical Oceanography at Scripps Institute of Oceanography; and renowned climate scientist and oceanographer Bill Patzert, who retired last year after 35 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The event is free, but seating is limited, so reservations are required. Call or text 562-548-4010, or email’ names will be at the front entrance of the Aquarium, and check-in begins at 3 p.m. The symposium will also be streamed live at the aquarium’s website.
